VINTAGE Porcelain Maneki Neko “Lucky Cat”, handpainted with gilt and moriage detailing – STUNNING! About 7 tall, this elegant feline is simply signed Kutani on the underside in Japanese script, the artist is unknown but IMO was quite talented. Fresh from a local collector’s estate, this lovely item is in Excellent pre-owned condition – no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. Even the gilt knobs or bells on the sides of his collar are unworn. I’m unsure of the age, I would estimate this dates back to at least mid-20th century and possibly older, as there are no “made in” or English markings anywhere, only the signature in Japanese characters.
